Simon Cowell is trying to slim down so he won’t be so pudgy in his wedding photos. He and fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy were spotted dining in West Hollywood earlier this month, where they both had salads and split a fish entrée.

It looks like Simon’s denials weren’t true after all. Simon Cowell‘s girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy has confirmed, they’re engaged!

Rumors swirled after she was spotted wearing a big, flashy ring on her engagement finger at a Valentine’s dinner with Cowell. But in the following days, Simon just laughed off questions about whether or not they were engaged.

Hussainy reveals to RadarOnline exclusively that they are indeed engaged to be married. The couple met several years ago on the set of American Idol, where she was a makeup artist. They’ve been dating for nearly a year and so far have not announced a wedding date yet.

Looks like it was just a rumor after all. Simon Cowell‘s publicist and close friend Max Clifford tells UsMagazine.com: “I spoke to Simon in London yesterday afternoon, just before he took his flight back to LA,” Clifford explains. “I asked him: ‘Look, are you engaged? Is it true?,’ and he said, ‘No! No. I’m not engaged.’”

The rumors were sparked after his girlfriend, American Idol makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy was seen wearing a big, fat ring on her engagement finger at a Valentine’s Day dinner.

Cowell also isn’t helping the engagement rumors with statements like the one he made during a recent British T.V. appearance: “She’s the one…She’s very special.”

“Yes, they are they an item,” pal Clifford tells Us. “Yes, they’re happy. But they’re not engaged. That’s straight from Simon’s mouth.”

Ladies, can you imagine snuggling up to Simon Cowell? His girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy doesn’t seem to mind.

The U.K.’s Daily Mirror reports that Cowell, 42, surprised his girlfriend with a giant diamond ring at a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner. She immediately put the rock on her engagement finger.

So, while the couple haven’t officially announced their engagement yet – it seems pretty obvious at this point.

Simon Cowell is the abrasive star judge of American Idol. Cowell recently played a brilliant career move. As American Idol‘s star seems to fade, he moves on to judge a new show – the American adaptation of the successful U.K. tv show The X Factor. The brilliant part is that he’s leaving a highly-paid job as on-air talent at American Idol to go to The X Factor, where is highly-paid on-air talent AND highly-paid co-owner/producer of the show.

This means a huge pay bump for a guy who was already pulling down an incredible salary. Good for him!
